Porsche Targa 996/997 - replace/reinstall new sunshade/motor

When I press the shade button to open, the motor starts but does not quit. it goes all the way open and start to "try" to keep on going. the solution was to take the fuse out (D3) and wait for a while. then put it back in and hit the button close and it does close but i dont se that it could pause like you are doing. Any suggestions??

    Almost finished with this job. Not. Fun. Any suggestions for tidying up the vacuum hoses/wires? There’s no spot on the plenum to connect and dangling hoses are never cool. And are we sure that just pushing that small hose on is going to last when Porsche thought it needed gluing? This aspect of this product is a disappointment. So many small things not considered. They could have cast spots to attach those electrical connectors for the vacuum lines. I had to reroute the larger breather hoses and so they too need tethering and again, you’re on your own. They didn’t machine enough off the throttle body connector pipe to allow an 8mm socket to fit all the way down to fully tight. Or at all on the bottom two bolts. We deserve a better product. IPD’s own instructions are poor as well. Sigh.

    Thank you!!! I just finished fluid and filter change for mine, 2021 macan base. Opened the filling plug, then drained the rest, total 4.750 L. Then replaced the filter, and started filling up. I had a buddy helping with a little tube and a funnel from the top of the car. After 4.3L it started overflowing. Then started the car, changed gears and topped off another 200ml, total of 4.5L. I did not have the icarsoft tool, so how do i get the other 250ml in?. What I end up doing was to take the car off the ramps , then use only the driver side ramps, which tilted the whole car towards the passenger side. Then opened the fill plug, no fluid was coming out since the car was on an angle, added the rest 250ml, closed the plug and that's it. 4.75L out - 4.75 in. Please let me know if you think I did something wrong. Hope this helps other diy'ers. Thanks again for the detailed video!

    Which end of the Numeric cables is easiest (or necessary) to remove in order to install the IPD Plenum. Unfortunately I didn’t have the plenum when I installed the Numeric set. That rear driver’s side cable was an absolute bitch to install. I had to climb onto and almost into the engine and do it from above.

      @@f.kieranfinney457 if it were me I’d probably back them off from the cabin side. No easy choice for sure as both bring their challenges. Since you have ptsd from the rear drivers cable, maybe the cabin side would just feel better and raise your blood pressure a little less 🤣

       Part of my thought is I may end up having to open the cabin side anyhow to re-adjust. The attraction of the trans side is obviously it’s already open and the rt side is a doddle to do. Couldn’t help wonder on install if there was something I missed about it that made it so difficult. I absolutely could not get it from the bottom. Maybe it’s the missing middle finger tip on my left hand…. I suspect the 987.2 is more difficult than the .1 as well. Thanks!

    Hold on! Your dealership is REPLACING your roof canvas over this? I have the same problem in m 981 Spyder and the dealership I bought it from said 'tough luck,' even thought it's CPO'ed. I'll have to check with my local dealership on this because replacing the roof out of pocket is $5k for the canvas alone. I'm curious to know what the staying power is of that glue, and what part of the country you're in. My fear is that hot summer sun exposure will cause this to just detach again.

      I guess they have sold out/don't sell anymore. I did find it again on Amazon.co.uk but not .com - www.amazon.co.uk/ESR17-Sunroof-Motor-Repair-Number/dp/B084Z26SJ6. Failing that, if you search - toyota rav 4 teeth number 68 - you may get other results from aliexpress and the like.

      @@DWraysGarage Oh no, I tried ordering from Amazon UK and the seller cancelled my order with the message: "When we bought the last product in our inventory to prepare it for you, we realized that our product was defective and defective. It is not possible for me to send you the product this way." I'm digging around to find other potential sources but haven't found anything so far.

      @@DWraysGarage still no luck. There's a problem during checkout where it doesn't give me a payment option and has the error message: "Warning: No Payment options are available. Please contact us for assistance!" I might give them an email at some point to see if they can fix their site.

    Do the intake ducts actually make a difference? The bottleneck for airflow is still the ducting in the hood, which is still blocked by a large segment in the middle.

    Is the exhaust system stock, only difference being fuse 22 removed, sounds louder than I expected?

    • @DWraysGarage
      @DWraysGarage 4 месяца назад

      Not stock. Still would be a difference but perhaps less aggressive all around than a stock setup. This is a header back system from Velocity AP.

    Hello , I just found your video, as A Palisade owner did this plug interfere with the skid plate of the Palisade?

    • @DWraysGarage
      @DWraysGarage 4 месяца назад

      It did not on mine. If the skid plate varies by year, it’s possible but I reckon you’ll be good to go. The angle is nice. Not sure I’d be as comfortable with it if it were totally vertical in orientation. Be well, D

    How did you compress it by hand with a string? Maybe yours was used and lost it's strength. But the new one I got (from the Amazon link you provided) would not compress by hand. Because it is rated for 150lbs and requires either my full body weight or a tool to compress it. I screwed the strut into place. Then, I used a 12" 300 lb trigger clamp to compress it. Then, I pushed it out of the clamp and into the slot by hand. Pretty easy. The hard part was figuring out how to apply the clamp. Because there isn't enough room to get the clamp behind the metal bar that the strut screws into. But there's a simple solution. 1) open the armrest, 2) remove the end piece of the clamp, 2) place the clamp in the armrest storage bin, 3) feed the clamp bar through the opening between the two hinges of the armrest, 4) put the end piece of clamp back on the clamp. Now the front of the clamp presses against the back wall of the storage bin and the end piece of the clamp presses against the end of the strut body. You have to position the strut body at the very edge of the clamp. This enables little effort to push the strut out of the clamp and into the slot.

    Great video. Just changed the oil on my Palisade for the first time. I'd been taking it in for the complimentary oil changes provided by Hyundai. Glad I saw this video and just needed to pick up a 27mm socket and was done in just 20 minutes. Thanks again for this nice detailed video.

    so, how many total oil did you end up using? should i really get 7L of the oil for this or 6L will be plenty. i have base macan and i don't know if the gearbox is smaller in it like the engine and brakes lol.
